Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player secured his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-time mentor his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents the player's first title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard court since March of the previous year.

Victory also signifies he has won 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to get a trophy is particularly special," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his past six championship matches, featuring in Halle previously this season.

The player's defensive strategy and recurring outbursts on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to compete at the elite level was finished.

But the athlete has altered his approach in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour title, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the champion secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, Medvedev clinched the title with a shot at the net area, with Moutet incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
